Members of the Council of Ethnic Minorities of the Public Defender met with CEC Chairperson
On April 30, 2015, members of the Council of Ethnic Minorities of the Public Defender met with CEC Chairwoman Tamar Zhvania. The event aimed at acquainting with activities planned by the Central Election Administration on election rights and procedures for ethnic minorities and hearing their proposals on conduction of the existing plan on the course of the year.
In his welcoming speech, First Deputy Public Defender Paata Beltadze stressed continuous character of cooperation established with the Central Election Commission and added that conduction of similar programmes would definitely promote improvement of election environment in the county, raise awareness of ethnic minorities of election rights and procedures and their participation in the country’s public and political life.
A project that was presented by the Central Election Commission encompasses civic education in regions populated with ethnic minorities, support of civic inclusion, conduction of study courses in summer schools for the youth on election procedures and other information campaigns.
