On July 28, 2017, members of the Council of National Minorities of the Public Defender met with the employees of the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia. Representatives of the Ministry informed the attendees about the current programs and projects ongoing at the Ministry.
The meeting focused on the assistance to socially vulnerable families, persons with disabilities, families who have lost breadwinners, refugees, IDPs and persons with humanitarian status, as well as the issue of compensation for damages inflicted during the performance of duties. The conversation also touched upon the progress of the pension program.
The members of the Council of National Minorities noted that the information booklets, issued by the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs in minority languages, are poorly distributed in regions and the local population are not informed of the novelties, changes and reforms carried out by the Ministry.
The attendees expressed their desire the Ministry to monitor the distribution of the booklets in the regions and also to ensure there to be information posters about various programs in ethnic minority languages at medical institutions.
