According to reports, on August 19, 2017, hackers attacked the website of Expressnews news agency (www.epn.ge), as a result of which, all materials of the above-mentioned media outlet was destroyed. The process of restoration of the website is now underway. According to a representative of the news agency, an investigation has already launched by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It is important the investigation to be conducted in a timely and effective manner, and perpetrators to be punished by law. Media outlets and journalists should have an environment where they will be able to work without any hindrance. The interests of the public to get information should not be obstructed either. The Public Defender of Georgia will watch the progress of the investigation.
