Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of UK to Georgia Expresses Support to Public Defender of Georgia
On December 8, 2021, Mark Clayton, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Georgia, met with Nino Lomjaria, Public Defender of Georgia, and expressed his support to the Public Defender’s Office and personally to the Public Defender of Georgia. The Ambassador noted that he closely monitors the assessments made by the Public Defender and trusts her statements as an objective source of information.
It should be noted that the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is assisting the Public Defender’s Office within the framework of a number of activities and the Ambassador reaffirmed his support today and expressed his readiness for future cooperation.
Speaking of the ongoing human rights processes in the country, the parties focused on the rights of people living in the conflict-affected regions and the role of the Public Defender and international community, in particular the United Kingdom, in ensuring their protection.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Public Defender Giorgi Burjanadze.
