Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, at the meeting with Mathieu Mori, Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Governments of the Council of Europe, and Marite Moras, Head of the Co-operation Activities Unit, spoke about the possibilities of strengthening local self-governments of Georgia and the activities carried out by the Office in the direction of raising awareness of human rights, in the implementation of which, the Public Defender’s Office has been supported by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe for years.

The parties discussed the current situation in the regions and self-governments of Georgia, the work of the new regional offices of the Public Defender, and expressed readiness for further cooperation.

The meeting was held on June 27, 2024, within the framework of the Public Defender's official visit to Strasbourg.
