Electronic Course on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of Women with Psychosocial Needs

An online training course has been developed on sexual and reproductive health and rights of women with psychosocial needs through cooperation between the Public Defender of Georgia, UNFPA Georgia Office and Tbilisi State Medical University.

The online training course is available on the website of Tbilisi State Medical University (http://sms.tsmu.edu/cme) and its target group is doctors certified in the field of obstetrics-gynecology and psychiatry. The course has been accredited by the Professional Development Council of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia and has been awarded 6 credit points. The course consists of three modules and multiple-choice tests.

The innovative cousse will help certified doctors working in the field of obstetrics-gynecology and psychiatry deepen their knowledge in the direction of health management of women with psychosocial needs, their rights and the commitments undertaken by the State.

The programme is based on the needs identified as a result of a study conducted by the Public Defender with the support of the United Nations Population Fund in 2019 on the situation of women's sexual and reproductive health and rights in psychiatric and public care facilities. The programme was developed under two joint UN programmes: For Gender Equality that is being carried out by the funding from the Swedish Government and Transforming Social Security for Persons with Disabilities in Georgia that is being carried out with the support of the SDG Fund.
