Public Defender’s Official Visit to Kingdom of Netherlands
On June 22-28, 2023, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani visited the Kingdom of the Netherlands at the invitation of the Netherlands Veterans Institute. The Public Defender held official meetings to share the practice of protection of veterans' rights and to strengthen international partnership.
The Public Defender visited the assisted living facilities and rehabilitation centers for veterans, as well as the Central Military Hospital of Utrecht and the National Disaster Center located nearby; He inspected the building and received information about the structural arrangement and work specifics of the hospital, as well as programmes designed to help veterans cope with post-war syndrome and other challenges.
Levan Ioseliani attended the ceremonial parade dedicated to the Veterans Day in The Hague. He also paid tribute to the memory of the Georgian soldiers fallen in the fight against fascism and buried in the military cemeteries of the island of Texel and the town of Leusden.
At the end of the visit, the Public Defender attended a symposium held at the Veterans Institute of the Kingdom of the Netherlands - "Concepts of caring for veterans and ways of their implementation". The friendly and partnership relations established between Georgia and the Netherlands, the ways to overcome challenges faced by Georgian veterans and the support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in this process were discussed at the symposium.
The Georgian delegation also included the Director of the State Service of Veterans Affairs and other employees of the Service, members of the Defence and Security Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, representatives of the Maro Makashvili Military Servicemen Rehabilitation Center and the Civil CouncilonDefence and Security.
