Deputy Public Defender Meets with Representatives of Department for Execution of Judgments of European Court of Council of Europe

On November 25, 2022, the Deputy Public Defender of Georgia, Giorgi Burjanadze, met with Pavlo Pushkar and Ketevan Tskhomelidze, representatives of the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of the Council of Europe.

The possibility of the Public Defender to submit communications under RULE 9 was discussed at the meeting. National human rights institutions and non-governmental organizations have the right to address communications to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and provide information on the execution of judgments of the European Court.

The active involvement of the Public Defender of Georgia in the process of execution of judgements of the European Court was positively noted at the meeting. In 2018-2022, the Public Defender submitted 18 communications relating to the execution of judgements of the European Court.

The parties also discussed the opportunities of future cooperation between the Public Defender’s Office and the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of the Council of Europe.
