On June 19-20, 2023, Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani is participating in the 15^th International Conference of Ombuds Institutions for the Armed Forces (ICOAF) in Vienna, which is being organized by the Parliamentary Federal Armed Forces Commissionof theAustrian Parliament and the Geneva CentreforSecurity SectorGovernance (DCAF).

This year's theme is "Managing the Effects of Climate Change – the Ombuds Institutions and Armed Forces".

The conference aims to raise awareness, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices among ombuds institutions, and promote future policy responses to the issues of climate change, mental health, and the changing geopolitical landscape. Participants will discuss these issues both at thematic sessions and in the dialogue mode.

Representatives of ombudsman institutions and military ombudsman institutions, parliamentary commissioners, parliamentary ombudsmen, as well as inspectors general, who have the right to receive and consider complaints related to human rights violations and maladministration in the armed forces, as well as representatives of international organizations working in the relevant area, are participating in the conference.
