Public Defender Meets with Chairman of Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey

During her working visit to Ankara, Nino Lomjaria, Public Defender of Georgia, met with Muharrem Kılıç, Chairman of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey, as well as the staff of the institution.

The parties signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation between the Turkish Human Rights and Equality Institution and the Georgian Public Defender’s Office and to share information on each other's best practices.

Institutions’ activities and mandates, cooperation, future plans and other issues were discussed at the April 8 meeting.

In addition, representatives of the Turkish and Georgian human rights institutions shared their experience on equality issues, work of the National Preventive Mechanisms, human rights awareness-raising activities, work of the institutions at the international and regional levels, etc.

Within the framework of her visit to Turkey, the Public Defender also met with Giorgi Janjgava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Turkey.
