On August 23, 2023, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, met with Hadja Lahbib, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Federal CulturalInstitutions of the Kingdom of Belgium.

The topics discussed at the meeting inlcuded the main challenges in terms of human rights protection in the country, the protection of the rights of the population living in the occupied territories and along the dividing line, the rights of minorities and freedom of expression, as well as the implementation of the 12 recommendations of the European Commission and the role of the Public Defender of Georgia in this process.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Federal CulturalInstitutions of the Kingdom of Belgium is on a two-day official visit to Georgia.
