Public Defender’s Representatives Visit Detained Demonstrators

Representatives of the Public Defenderof Georgia visited 10 persons arrested on the night of April 15 at the protest rally in front of the Parliament building in Tbilisi.

One of the detainees referred to the ill-treatment by police officers and expressed a desire for a response to the above; In addition, the Public Defender’s representatives observed injuries on his body. Accordingly, the Public Defender’s Office has already applied to the Special Investigation Service with a request to investigate the incident.

The Public Defender’s Office will continue to monitor the protests and, within the mandate, will respond accordingly to all violations of human rights.
