Public Defender Visits Persons with Disabilities in Small Group Homes

On 3 December 2018, in connection with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Public Defender Nino Lomjaria visited the Hand-in-Hand organization that supports social inclusion and met with the beneficiaries living in small group homes. Nino Lomjaria received information about the beneficiaries’ living conditions, needs and steps taken for developing their ability to live independently.

The organization has 5 small groups homes in Tbilisi and Gurjaani, with 5 people living in each home. As the head of the organization informed the Public Defender, the current year had been difficult for them due to poor funding, but they had overcome the problem and the government promised to increase funding next year. The Public Defender reiterated her support for the development of small group home services.

The persons with disabilities treated Nino Lomjaria to a cake baked by them.
