Inclusive education: Achievements and challenges
The report refers to the problems identified by representatives of the Public Defender's Office of Georgia when monitoring 15 pilot public schools in Georgia, as well as the challenges in the process of inclusive education. In particular, the lack of unified vision and multidisciplinary and individual approach, importance of implementing effective mechanisms to protect children (including children with disabilities) from violence and providing schools with adequate infrastructure and human resources.
The monitoring identified the need for taking measures to raise awareness amongst school staff and parents about both inclusive education and the needs of children with disabilities.
