Training on Legal Writing for Employees of Public Defender's Office

On August 6-8, 2024, employees of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia, with the support of the USAID Rule of Law Program, were trained on legal writing issues.

The training was aimed at introducing the legal writing techniques to the representatives of the Office, which will allow the employees to prepare the documents to be issued by the Public Defender with a more logical structure and easy-to-understand wording for a wide audience.

To this end, training participants reviewed the established legal writing standards, learned about the legal document structure based on best practices and legal opinion preparation methods, citation standards and effective argumentation techniques. They also spoke about the introduction of improved practices. The also included practical exercises, group discussions and feedback as well.

The Public Defender considers the improved professional skills of the employees to be an important component in the process of effective supervision of the protection of human rights, and in this regard, with the support of donors, he will continue to plan activities in the future as well.
