Working Meeting on Strengthening Capabilities of Joint Return Operation Monitors
On June 28-29, employees of the Public Defender's Department of Prevention and Monitoring, Akaki Kukhaleishvili and Levan Begiashvili, participated in a working meeting on “Strengthening capabilities of joint return operation monitors” in Warsaw, Poland. The aim of the meeting was to improve monitoring mechanisms to ensure effective protection of migrants' rights during joint return operations.
The working meeting was also attended by representatives of the European Ombudsman’s Office, FRONTEX consultative forum delegates on fundamental rights, an expert of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and representatives of the International Migration Policy Center. They shared their experiences and coordinated discussions ongoing in various groups.
The meeting was organized by the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union (FRONTEX) in cooperation with the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights.
