The situation of human rights in prisons and other places of restriction of freedom was discussed by Public Defender Levan Ioseliani and employees of the National Preventive Mechanism at the meeting held with the delegation of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT).

Representatives of the National Preventive Mechanism informed the CPT delegation of the rights situation of prisoners and the challenges existing in the penitentiary system.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to the rights situation of convicts and defendants with mental health problems in the criminal justice system.
