Public Defender met the Head of EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia
On July 18, 2014, Ucha Nanuashvili Public Defender of Georgia met Toivo Klaar, the Head of EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia. Office of Public Defender systematically studies the situation of human rights of conflict-affected population. The aim of the meeting was to exchange information with monitoring mission and strengthen mutual cooperation.
Ucha Nanuashvili and Toivo Klaar overviewed frequent detention cases at the administrative boundary line, human rights situation of local population and security issues. Public Defender informed the representatives of the mission on daily problems encountered by the population due to unresolved conflict.
Public Defender considers that the Government of Georgia shall carry out all necessary measures to restore incidents prevention and response mechanism (IPRM) in Gali, which will have a significant impact on the improvement of security at the administrative boundary line of Abkhazia as well as the safety of population of Gali district.
