Meetings on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Kakheti and Samtskhe-Javakheti Regions

In October 2019, representatives of the Gender Department of the Public Defender’s Office, Elene Kaikhosroshvili and Sophio Rusetski, held meetings in the municipalities of Kakheti and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions (Telavi, Lagodekhi, Akhmeta, Borjomi, Adigeni and Akhaltsikhe).

The aim of meetings was to raise women’s awareness of their sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as the harmful practice of early marriage. Participants of the meeting showed particular interest in the key findings of the Public Defender's 2018 study on sexual and reproductive health and rights.

The Gender Department actively continues to raise women’s awareness of sexual and reproductive health and rights in the regions of Georgia with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The meetings are carried out within the framework of the project “Assessment of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Wellbeing in the Country”.
