The Public Defender addressed the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia with a recommendation regarding provision of a public school of the village of Zeda Vani with a new building.

According to information of the Public Defender, for years the public school of the village of Zeda Vani have been functioning in an old administrative building of an old collective farm and its infrastructure does not correspond to needs of an educational establishment. The building is in a grave state, roof is out of order, walls of the building are covered with fungal sprouts and it is impossible to clean them out properly. Windows are damaged and fresh air cannot access into classrooms; floor is also amortized. The building does not have drinking water, fire-extinguishing and hot water supply systems; sewer system is also out of order. Accordingly, it is impossible to maintain sanitary and hygiene norms.

The main goal of the state policies is to provide conditions necessary for a school student to become a free person with national and universal values and to establish conditions to receive suitable education. The Public Defender of Georgia believes provision of a new building for Zeda Vani Public School to be necessary to this end.
