Project activities:
Within the framework of the project, experts invited by the Council of Europe conducted trainings for the employees of the Public Defender's Office in the following issues: submission of amicus curiae briefs; strengthening of regional offices in terms of individual proceedings; strengthening of analytical skills in terms of protection of vulnerable groups and social rights, as well as in fight against intolerance and ill-treatment. Employees of both Tbilisi and regional offices participated in the trainings. In addition, the experts discussed the amendments made to the Law on Public Defender in relation to the international standards (the Paris Principles adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1993).
