On November 25, 2024, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani visited the Rustavi Mental Health Center and received information about the rights situation of patients placed in the institution.

The Public Defender inspected the external and internal infrastructure of the psychiatric institution, yard, sanitary facilities, living rooms of the beneficiaries, and the dining area; he also spoke with the institution's administration and employees.

At this stage, 22 patients are placed in the inpatient facility. During the visit, special attention was paid to the need for infrastructure renewal, the necessity to increase the number of staff in the field of psychiatry, sanitary and hygienic conditions, proper food provision, issues of psychosocial rehabilitation, as well as the importance of protection of patients' private space and confidentiality.

The Public Defender will continue to supervise the protection of the rights of persons placed in mental health institutions in the future too.
