Public Defender Signs Memorandum of Cooperation with National Center for Teacher Professional Development
On 25 December 2018, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Public Defender’s Office and the National Center for Teacher Professional Development. The goal of the memorandum is to promote formal education of human rights, in particular to raise the knowledge of teachers about human rights and freedoms at the level of general education.
Within the framework of the memorandum, the parties will prepare an online course for teachers about theoretical issues of fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as methodological approaches of education. The course will help teachers of subjects of social sciences, competence of which directly envisages human rights education, as well as teachers of other subjects, to improve their skills for teaching human rights.
Together with the above-mentioned, cooperation will also be launched with accredited higher education institutions of Georgia in order to improve human rights education and introduce new courses for students of pedagogical departments.
