Public Defender Visits Khulo Municipality Villages of Ghorjumi and Didajara
On July 26, 2025, the Public Defender of Georgia arrived in the Muslim-populated village of Ghorjumi in Khulo municipality, visited the local mosque, met with population and received information about their living conditions.
There is a high rate of population migration in Ghorjumi, like other mountainous villages in Georgia, and young people are leaving the village due to lack of employment prospects. Problems with communication networks and gaps in Internet access were also identified.
The lack of Internet access is especially acute in the village of Didajara, Khulo municipality, and in the villages of Yalaghe. The process of networking that began 2 years ago was halted for unknown reasons and has not been completed to this day. The population of Didajara is also acutely concerned about difficulties related to property registration.
The Public Defender's Office has been studying the problems of the highland population for years and reflecting the recommendations developed as a result of the identified problems in the annual parliamentary report.
