Public Defender’s Office Presents Strategic Vision Document and Organizational Development Plan

The Public Defender of Georgia introduced the strategic objectives of the Public Defender's Office for 2019-2021, the main priorities of organizational development and action plan for 2019 to the NGOs and international organizations on September 27, 2018.

"It should be noted that despite the expansion of the Public Defender’s mandate and the creation of additional guarantees of independence, neither the performance of the Office has been evaluated nor the strategic vision of organizational development has been elaborated over the years, whereas the above-mentioned is an important precondition for ensuring the high standard of protection of human rights,"- the Public Defender said at the opening of the event.

The Public Defender’s Office had been working on the strategy and organizational development plan together with the Synergy Group in May-August 2018. At the initial stage, the Synergy Group evaluated the performance and organizational structure of the Public Defender's Office on the basis of special methodology and through the utmost involvement of the staff of the Office and stakeholders, after which it developed strategic objectives and defined an action plan for 2019. Structural reorganization, aimed at effectively using the available structural entities and human resources, is planned in the Public Defender's Office for the purpose of effectively implementing the strategy.

The process was carried out with the financial support of the EU within the framework of the "Combating All Forms of Discrimination in Georgia" project.
