First Deputy Public Defender Participates in Annual Conference of European Network of Ombudsmen
On November 20-21, 2025, the Annual Conference of the European Network of Ombudsmen was hosted by the European Ombudsman Teresa Anjinho in Brussels. At meetings of various thematic working groups, ombudsmen and invited experts discussed the independence of ombudsmen, supervision of environmental protection, the powers of ombudsmen under EU law, supervision of the protection of the human rights of refugees, and other important issues.
First Deputy Public Defender Tamar Gvaramadze spoke at the meeting of the Working Group on Legislative Guarantees for Ombudsman Independence about the functional independence of the ombudsman and the importance of creating appropriate guarantees by the state. She also participated in the discussion on the supervision carried out by ombudsmen over the provision of public services by private institutions. It is noteworthy that the Public Defender's institution of Georgia was invited to this kind of event for the first time this year.
