Deputy Public Defender Visits Chakvi Social Settlement
Irine Chikhladze, Deputy Public Defender of Georgia, and Giorgi Talakhadze, Head of the Regional Division of the Office, visited the settlement located in Chakvi district of Kobuleti municipality, where people displaced from the occupied territory of Georgia and eco-migrants live.
The Deputy Public Defender met the residents of the settlement and listened to their problems. There are infrastructure challenges in the settlement, the drainage system is faulty, which leads to flooding of the building, dampness and spread of mold in the living rooms under the conditions of high humidity. The internal road and common space need to be fixed, it is important to arrange a sports and cultural center for young people. The population also emphasized the problem with water supply.
The Public Defender’s Office intensively monitors the places of settlement of IDPs and eco-migrants and addresses the local self-government bodies with recommendations to solve the identified problems.
