Public Defender's Statement on Exercise of Detainees’ Right of Defense
The Public Defender of Georgia has learned from a lawyer’s public appeal that lawyers have not been given the opportunity to meet with Levan Khabeishvili and Murtaz Zodelava for several hours now.
The right of defense is guaranteed by Georgian legislation, and investigative agencies are obliged not to impede the effective exercise of this right.
We call on the State Security Service to immediately ensure that defendants are visited by their lawyers.
