Public Defender Meets with President
Nino Lomjaria, Public Defender of Georgia, discussed the rights of the child, domestic violence and violence against women at the meeting with Salome Zurabishvili, President of Georgia. The new Code on the Rights of the Child, oversight of which has been assigned to the Public Defender's Office, was also discussed at the meeting.
The importance of involvement of various organizations in the protection of children's rights was another topic of discussion.
The President and the Public Defender agreed to continue working together on the above issues. The President expressed her desire to participate and actively engage in an information campaign to promote children's rights, provide information to children and increase access to new services.
