Public Defender Meets with UNICEF Country Representative in Georgia
On September 5, 2025, Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani and Deputy Public Defender Irine Chikhladze met with UNICEF Country Representative in Georgia, Jesper Moller.
The parties discussed the children’ rights situation in Georgia and the recent activities of the Public Defender's Office and UNICEF in this regard. Jesper Moller introduced the Public Defender to the main findings of the organization's periodic report on Georgia, as well as the directions of ongoing and planned projects.
Speaking of continuing their long-standing fruitful cooperation, the parties emphasized the need to raise awareness of children's rights and improve the mechanism for collecting and analyzing child-related statistical data by state agencies, the rights of child victims of violence, and the importance of geographical expansion and strengthening of the Barnahus model.
