Public Defender Meets with Conflict-Affected Population at Enguri Bridge

On the day of the fall of Sokhumi, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani came to the Enguri Bridge, met with the population affected by the conflict and learned about the situation of human rights while crossing the occupation line.

"31 years have passed since our citizens were forced to leave their homes and become displaced persons in their own country. We must do our best to ensure that this conflict, which has cost many lives, is resolved peacefully and that the rights of people on both sides of this bridge are equally protected - where there is no peace, there can be no human rights.

My main message of peace to the Abkhazian brothers and sisters is that the conflict between us must end with reconciliation and the condition of people, the quality of their life and protection of their rights must be improved," said the Public Defender.
