On November 28, 2024, the Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, held a meeting with students and professors of Akhaltsikhe University.

The Public Defender introduced the mandate and main areas of activity of the Office to the participants in the meeting. He emphasized the rights of ethnic and religious minorities and the importance of strengthening a tolerant environment, as well as issues of gender equality. He paid special attention to the challenges of protecting human rights in the occupied territories, including problems in terms of the right to life, healthcare, education and freedom of movement. The students also showed interest in the possibilities and mechanisms for reconciliation between the parties.
