Deputies of Public Defender Hold Meetings in Brussels
Tamar Gvaramadze and Elene Ghudushauri, Deputies of the Public Defenders of Georgia, as part of their official visit to Brussels, met with Carl Dolan, Senior Adviser to the European Ombudsman, and Honor Mahony, Head of Communications, at the office of the European Ombudsman.
Tamar Gvaramadze and Elene Ghudushauri introduced the Public Defender’s institution, its mandate, the peculiarities of its activities and the practice of developing recommendations to the representatives of the European Ombudsman, as well as the involvement and partnership of the Public Defender’s Office in international human rights networks.
The Public Defender of Georgia, as the ombudsman of the EU candidate country, was given the opportunity to start cooperation with the European Ombudsman’s institution. Within the framework of this cooperation, the Public Defender was invited to become a member of the European Network of Ombudsmen.
The Deputies of the Public Defenders of Georgia also held working meetings with representatives of the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) and the European External Action Service (EEAS).
