Informational Meetings with School Children
In October 2019, informational meetings were organized at the initiative of the Western Georgia Division of the Public Defender’s Office, during which, school children received information about the human rights situation in the country and main challenges in this area, as well as the mandate and activities of the Public Defender in this direction.
On October 22, at the meeting with 9th and 10th grade students of various municipalities of Imereti region and the School of Future Generation – a project of the Kutaisi Education Development and Employment Center, the Public Defender talked about the forms of violence against children and protection mechanisms; she paid particular attention to the challenge of early marriage.
Madona Basiladze also talked about the forms of early marriage, its causes and damage at the meeting with Kutaisi public school students and teachers on October 25. The role and activities of the Public Defender's Office in the prevention of early marriage were highlighted. The meeting was held within the framework of the information campaign “Don't Deprive Children of Childhood”.
On October 25, at the meeting with students of NATO School 2019, Madona Basiladze discussed European human rights standards as a tool for developing the national human rights standard and introduced the activities of the Public Defender's Office in the process of harmonization with European standards.
