International Conference - Convention for the Protection of the Legal Profession as an Effective Pathway to Safeguarding the Rule of Law
On November 8, 2025, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani participated in an international conference organized by the Georgian Bar Association, which discussed the Convention for the Protection of the Legal Profession as an effective instrument for ensuring the rule of law.
The event, which was attended by international and local experts, discussed the role of self-governing bar associations in ensuring the independence of the legal profession and quality justice, and the issues of ensuring the unhindered professional activities of lawyers and the protection of professional secrecy in accordance with the European Convention.
In his welcoming speech, the Public Defender focused on the importance of the Bar Association in terms of protecting human rights in the country and emphasized the many years of work of the Public Defender's Office in protecting the rights of lawyers.
The conference was held within the framework of the event marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Georgian Bar Association.
