The Public Defender of Georgia is monitoring the court hearing into the broadcasting company Rustavi 2 case. A few months ago the Public Defender released a statement about the court's ruling on seizure of the TV Company’s property and labeled it as dangerous for freedom of expression.

It is important that the hearing of the case be conducted with full observation of the right to fair trial and freedom of expression.

The Public Defender's representative will attend today’s trial in Tbilisi City Court, appointed for 11:00 am. The Public Defender's Office will monitor the court session and will periodically provide information to the public.
