Public Defender Meets with Director of OSCE/ODIHR
On July 18, 2018, Public Defender Nino Lomjaria and Deputies of the Public Defender - Tamar Gvaramadze, Giorgi Burjanadze and Ekaterine Skhiladze met with Ingibjörg SólrúnGísladóttir, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) and Marcin Walecki, head of the Democratization Department.
The Public Defender briefly reviewed the human rights situation in the country and the mandate of the Public Defender. She also talked about the ongoing and implemented reforms and challenges in the law enforcement field. The guest showed particular interest in the election environment and gender equality, including women's political participation, and got information about the situation of domestic violence.
The prospects of deepening cooperation were also discussed at the meeting. Ingibjörg SólrúnGísladóttir promised assistance to the Public Defender in elaboration of legislative initiatives, proposals and opinions.
