The University Week of Human Rights Law was opened on 2 December 2019. One of the partner organizations of the event is the Public Defender's Office of Georgia.

The Week was opened with a panel discussion on “Retrospective of Protests” in the Public Library, where, Deputy Public Defender Giorgi Burjanadze was one of the speakers. He spoke about the ongoing investigation into the excessive use of force on June 20-21 and the monitoring process conducted by the Public Defender of Georgia.

A number of events and academic discussions on important human rights issues are scheduled within the framework of the Week.
