Meeting with Deputy Ambassador of EU Delegation to Georgia
On October 8, 2024, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, and Tamar Gvaramadze, First Deputy Public Defender of Georgia, met with Zane Rungule, newly appointed Deputy Ambassador of EU Delegation to Georgia.
At the introductory meeting, the parties talked about the situation of human rights in the country during the pre-election period, the situation in terms of assemblies-demonstrations and freedom of expression, use of hate speech, as well as safety of election observation missions, media representatives and human rights defenders.
The Public Defender informed the guest of his evaluations regarding the human rights violations in the pre-election period and the activities carried out within the mandate of the Office.
Zane Rungule is also the Head of the Political Press and Information Section at the EU Georgia Office. The First Secretary of the Delegation and the Deputy Head of the Political Press and Information Section, Pierre Saglier, also attended the meeting.
