On June 29, 2023, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, who is paying an official visit to Amsterdam, met with ReiniervanZutphen, National Ombudsman of the Netherlands,.

Discussion at the meeting touched upon the implementation of the 12 recommendations set forth by the European Commission, including the procedure for electing the Public Defender, as well as the details of cooperation with ombudsmen of European countries.

The ombudsmen discussed the general situation of human rights, the mandate of the institutions and prospects for further cooperatio. Attention was paid to the protection of veterans’ human rights, measures to be taken to improve their situation, and the role and importance of human rights institutions in this regard.

Levan Ioseliani invited his Dutch colleague to Georgia in order to share the best practices and deepen relations.
