Public Defender Meets with Members of OSCE/ODIHR Delegation
On 16 May 2019, Public Defender Nino Lomjaria met with members of the delegation of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) – Meaghan Fitzgerald, Deputy Head of Democratization Department, Legislative Support Officer Anne-Lise Chatelain, and experts Andras Sajo and Michèle Rivet.
The topic of the meeting, which was also attended by Deputy Public Defender Giorgi Burjanadze and Public Defender’s Parliamentary Secretary Tatuli Todua, was the draft law on the appointment of Supreme Court judges.
The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights assessed the draft law on the appointment of Supreme Court judges and its compliance with international and regional standards following the relevant appeal of the Public Defender of Georgia.
Members of the OSCE/ODIHR delegation will today participate in a round table on the draft law on the selection of judges in Georgia.
