Public Defender Meets with Representatives of OSCE/ODIHR in Warsaw

On December 5, 2023, Levan Ioseliani. Public Defender of Georgia, during his official visit to Warsaw (Poland), met with Tea Jaliashvili, First Deputy Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). The meeting was also attended by Andrew Gardner,ODIHR's Deputy Headof the Human RightsDepartment, Iryna Ivankiv, Project Officer, Julia Gebhard, Deputy Head of the Democratization Department, and Anne-Lise Chatelain,Chiefof ODIHR'sLegislativeSupport Unit.

The meeting participants talked about the situation of human rights in the country, close and multilateral cooperation between the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, including the process of bringing Georgian legislation into compliance with European standards, which is of great importance for Georgia's democratic development and integration into the European Union. They emphasized the good practice of the Public Defender to use all available legal mechanisms and forums to support the protection of human rights in Georgia.

At the end of the meeting, the Public Defender thanked the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights for many years of fruitful cooperation and strong support.
