Public Defender’s Representative Visits Persons Detained during Rally

The representative of the Public Defender visited one citizen detained during the April 17 rally. The detainee claims that he was detained without grounds.

The Public Defender’s Office has also established the location of another citizen detained on administrative charges and will visit him in the next few hours.

In addition, the Public Defender’s Office will today apply to the Special Investigation Service to launch an investigation into the alleged ill-treatment of Member of Parliament Aleksandre Elisashvili by the police.

The Public Defender calls on the Special Investigation Service to immediately start an investigation and conduct all investigative actions in order to identify responsible persons. The Office will monitor the effectiveness of the investigation.
