Information Meeting relating to Adequate Housing, Access to Food and Rights of Eco-Migrants

On May 2, 2023, the employees of the Department of Civil, Political, Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia held a meeting with the Deputies of the Mayors of Adjara and Guria municipalities and other representatives of Batumi City Hall. Meetings were also held with the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Affairs of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and the Head of the Division of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

At the meeting, the Head of the Department, Lika Tsiklauri, introduced the relevant chapters and recommendations of the Public Defender’s annual report to the participants regarding the provision of adequate housing, access to food, the rights of older persons and eco-migrants. During the discussion, participants discussed the challenges in the mentioned direction and solutions.

Representatives of all municipalities of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, as well as the Lanchkhuti and Chokhatauri municipalities of the Guria region, took part in the meetings.

The event was held within the framework of the partnership programme between the Public Defender’s Office and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
