On March 31, 2023, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, visited Kutaisi Penitentiary Establishment No. 2, where he personally met and talked with prisoners, including all the juvenile accused and convicted persons placed in the institution.

In the closed-type facility, the Public Defender viewed residential buildings, cells, common spaces, walking yards, de-escalation cells, shared showers and a medical room.

During the conversation with the head of the prison administration, the Public Defender received detailed information about the security situation and prisoner rehabilitation programnes.
