On April 25, 2025, Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani met with Minister of Justice Paata Salia.

The Public Defender spoke about the challenges identified during his visits to penitentiary institutions. The reforms ongoing in the system and the process of resocialization and rehabilitation were also discussed.

The parties agreed to further deepen cooperation in terms of strengthening human rights protection.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Justice, was attended by the Deputies of the Public Defender, Tamar Gvaramadze, Elene Ghudushauri and Irina Chikhladze; as well as the Deputies of the Minister of Justice, Beka Dzamashvili, Giorgi Dgebuadze and Lasha Maghradze, and the Head of the Special Penitentiary Service, Nika Tskharashvili.
