Meeting on Protection of Personal Data of Persons with Disabilities
On October 11, 2024, Public Defender Levan Ioseliani took part in a meeting concerning personal data protection issues in the context of the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, which was attended by representatives of state organizations working on issues of persons with disabilities. The event was organized by the Personal Data Protection Service.
In his welcoming speech, the Public Defender talked about the importance of improving the standard of personal data protection in terms of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and emphasized the activities of the Office in this direction.
Participants in the meeting discussed the progress of the fulfillment of obligations undertaken at the national and international level as a result of the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the current situation in the country in terms of personal data protection of persons with disabilities, and the legal issues of the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities on the example of Poland.
Lela Janashvili, Head of the Personal Data Protection Service, Mikheil Sarjveladze, Minister of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs, and Rati Ionatamishvili, Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, also spoke at the event.
