Meeting of Consultative Council for Monitoring Promotion, Protection and Implementation of Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities
On November 9, 2016, the Public Defender’s Consultative Council for Monitoring the Promotion, Protection and Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities held its eighth working meeting.
The meeting was attended by Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili, representatives of the Public Defender's Office and invited members of the Council. At the opening of the event, the Public Defender talked about the renewed composition of the Consultative Council and presented two new members - Marina Mamulia and Ekaterine Togonidze.
The Consultative Council discussed the following issues of the agenda: implemented and planned activities in terms of monitoring the promotion, protection and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and got information about the monitoring report of the implementation of the Convention.
At the end of the meeting, the participants discussed the human rights situation of persons with disabilities and a variety of issues relating to the monitoring of the United Nations Convention.
The next meeting of the Council will be held within 2 months and will consider the progress of the monitoring of the implementation, promotion and protection of the Convention.
