Annual Spring Workshop of European Network of Ombudspersons for Children (ENOC) on Child's Mental Health Issues
On June 7-8, Mariam Bochorishvili and Nino Valikov, employees of the Public Defender's Office, participated in the annual spring workshop of the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children (ENOC) in Dublin, Ireland. The topic of the event was child’s mental health issues.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the organization’s member states (ombudsmen of children, representatives of the relevant structural units of the ombudsman's offices).
On the first day of the workshop, participants discussed issues of child welfare and development, challenges relating to child’s mental health, including importance of early identification, replacement of hospital services with family type services and minimizing treatment with medicines; problems for stigmatization, bullying and phobia in schools.
On the second day of the seminar, discussions on child participation and participation in decision making processes, issues of expression and consideration. The list of events will also be developed to advocate these issues and to understand the importance of the community by decision makers.
