The Public Defender holds a working meeting with newly-elected members of the Special Preventive Group
On January 24 and 25, 2015, the Public Defender is holding a two-day working meeting with a renewed composition of the Special Preventive Group where various issues concerning effective work of the National Preventive Mechanism are to be discussed. At the first stage, the commission selected 22 members of the Special Preventive Group, including 8 lawyers with experience of working and monitoring in closed-type establishments, 3 social workers, 4 doctors, 2 psychiatrists, 3 experts in discrimination issues, 2 experts in juvenile justice.
The working meeting that was attended by members of the newly-established Advisory Council of the National preventive Mechanism discusses issues such as rights and duties of members of the Special Preventive Group. During the meeting, challenges facing the National Preventive Mechanism and ways of their resolution will be analyzed; the Action Plan 2015 of the National Preventive Mechanism will be also discussed.
In the nearest future, the Public Defender will announce the second stage of vacancies aimed at selecting additional members in the Special Preventive Group.
